Hidden Collections (2025-ongoing)

The focus of my work, beyond a critical reinterpretation of an archaeological archive, became the recurring manipulative interventions made by photographers on the documentation of artifacts and excavations.
Everything that had been painted over in red or yellow, or covered with cardboard or other materials to “cut out” the subject, would remain white in the final print, thereby removing all the information that, in the original shot, surrounded the object.
In other words, I had found artifacts that not only had been selected and preserved, but that themselves bore the marks of an operation of exclusion and erasure, an act meant to preserve what was deemed more important.
